ALAN A. BOUWKAMP is a partner in the firm of Becker Bouwkamp Walker, PC, where he practices in the areas of family law and general litigation. He received his BA in 1984 from Indiana University and his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, in 1990 from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. He has lectured extensively on issues such as life after divorce, child custody and shared parenting, child abuse, and general family law. Alan has practiced extensively before trial courts throughout Indiana, the Indiana Court of Appeals, and has argued before the Indiana Supreme Court. Alan has had an AV Preeminent® rating through Martindale-Hubbell® for more than 18 years.[*] Alan is also recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer (2020-2022), and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation. He is a member of multiple organizations, including Grievance Committee B of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indianapolis, Hamilton County, and Indiana State Bar Associations, and Collaborative Solutions,[**] an interdisciplinary association of collaborative professionals that provides a client-centered, interest-based approach to resolving legal issues throughout Indiana. His membership further extends to the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Central Indiana Association of Collaborative Professionals, Fortune Academy, a school for children in grades 1-12 with learning differences, and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Sports Program. Additionally, Alan is a former member of several institutions: the Indiana Historical Society, The Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens, Habitat for Humanity, and Outreach Inc., a not-for-profit providing outreach to those experiencing homelessness and at-risk young adults. He is also a Past President of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Carmel, IN, and from 1990-2003 was a partner in a medium-sized law firm in Carmel, which focused on civil litigation.
